Principal's Message

I am honored to join and work alongside the Collett Team.  Our school is continuing to  focus this year on strong foundations.  This is achieved by the consistent  implementation of the AVID program,   AUSD adopted curriculum, and alignment with state standards.   The focus  on creating strong foundations will allow us to build meaningful futures together and prepare our students to be college and career ready.

Collett has a wonderful staff consisting of regular education teachers (TK-5), a resource specialist (RSP teacher),  intervention teachers,  a speech pathologist, and a school psychologist. In addition, we have AM and P.M. preschool classes. A wonderful Counselor is present on campus  to support students well -being.  Collett staff members take advantage of professional development opportunities throughout the year, and  work collaboratively to ensure that all students have access to an equitable, rigorous educational program.

We maintain a high level of communication between the home and the school, and we encourage you to become actively involved in your child’s education by speaking often with your child’s teacher and attending school-wide activities such as Back-to-School Night, Open House, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Family Workshops scheduled throughout the year.

We have several leadership opportunities for parents within our school.  These include the School Site Council (SSC), the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). Parents have found participation in these activities to be informative and interesting, and we encourage your involvement in these important programs.

Daily attendance is crucial to each student’s academic growth and achievement.  Because we value student attendance, we have various incentive programs to encourage daily engagement.

We look forward to an amazing school year as we continue to implement and maintain a quality program that is focused upon state standards, promotes the academic achievement and social well-being for every student.. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or  concerns. Thank you in advance for the opportunity to learn and grow with your  child(ren). We look forward to working with you this year!

Respectfully,
Dr. Edith Powers
